Afternoon tea at Fortnum and Mason.
As English as the Queen and as old as – well a very old tradition.
My most recent visit saw me select the Savoury Afternoon tea option – which all you sweet toothed readers beware – is totally savoury there are no sweets involved at all – however I suggest always going to afternoon tea with dining partners who are open to sharing (a concept I myself have only delved into these past few years) so you actually get the best of both worlds – also invariably if you are vegetarian no one wants to share with you anyway so it is win-win.
The tea was beyond yum, that’s not the official description – which is
“Our savoury afternoon tea menu commences with light finger sandwiches and exquisite savoury scones. This delightful tea is completed by a selection from the cake carriage. Served with our finest tea blends, the Fortnum’s Savoury Afternoon Tea is a truly elegant repast.”
