Storchen Hotel

Hotel Reviews / Thursday, December 5th, 2019

Right in the heart of the old town – we stayed at the glamorous and super well appointed Storchen as part of a business trip for a few nights in early December. The air was cold and fresh and we were treated to a pretty snow show to really make us feel like we were living in a Winter wonderland.

Firstly – Zürich is famous for being expensive – so once you’ve got past that and just embraced the cost – you will have a fabulous time and I totally recommend the Storchen – we had visited the previous year for a drink in the bar – Barchetta – and decided when we returned to check in to the Storchen.

The Lowdown

The Storchen enjoys a premium position by the side of the beautiful Limmat to the front and is surrounded by an abundance of luxury retailers and great bars and restaurants all around.

From check in to check out the service was first class. The staff are patient and knowledgable, the bar staff are fun and the concierge is very attentive to your needs which as a business traveller on this trip was perfect – nothing was too much trouble.

Our room was an attic queen facing the Limmat – beautifully decorated with the most fabulous layout – a thoughtful room making the most of the space – with every contemporary amenity you could possibly need. The bathroom was a delight with thoughtful and elegant touches.

We dined (both a light lunch and a late dinner) and drank (until very late!) at Barchetta during our stay – their is a great vibe and the local gliterrati sit alongside shopping and site weary tourists in equal measure.

We hastily visited the Cigar Room – owing only to time – the smoke renders long forgotten memories of childhood – combined with the feel of an exclusive gentleman’s club.

We ran out of time to eat at the Rotisserie restaurant – outside of breakfast – which is also served in the grand and beautiful space overlooking the River.

We braved the super cold weather and had yummy hot chocolate outside at Barchetta over looking the river – the roof terrace was not open in December but we hear it is a delight! maybe a Summer time return?

A totally wonderful stay and we look forward to returning!

Please note we paid the full price for the hotel. This was not a press or gifted trip and the review is an honest account of a business trip.
