We have just returned from a long weekend in the beautiful bolthole that is the Hotel Sant Francesc – tucked away in the heart of the old town in Palma.
Perfectly located in the quiet and pretty Sant Francesc square, the location could not be more perfect – a super speedy 10 minute drive from airport and you are a short walk from everywhere you would want to visit in Palma.
Firstly the staff – especially Diana and Xisco – from arrival to departure –went out of their way to cater to our every requirement in an understated and efficient manner and all of the staff were absolutely faultless in their approach.
The hotel itself is an incredibly elegant, grand old villa featuring a series of beautifully curated spaces through which to wander and spend your time – centred around a courtyard that combines contemporary furnishings and olive trees – that is reached from the reception on one side and majestic downstairs bar on the other.
The décor of the hotel is incredibly considered – with a fashion and art inspired feel that just adds to the luxurious atmosphere. Combining the old with a fresh, modern, contemporary and minimal style with earthy tones of grey, white and plum and with the most wonderful aroma of fig filling every space.
Following check in – our first stop was at the roof top – where we discovered an oasis – the jewel in the crown of the hotel. Situated against the sandy rooftops and spires of the city and at a total contrast – the beautiful turquoise waters of the pool. Combine soothing music, wooden day beds, luxury white towels, swifts swooping overhead, cocktails being mixed at the bar and tapas being served on the terrace – the Quadrat is the perfect place to relax and adjust to the island way of living.
Our room (004) was incredible – featuring an oversized super king, extremely comfortable four poster bed, high ceilings, large airy windows and all of the modern conveniences you could wish – including complimentary Nespresso, Air Con, Flat Screen TV, USB ports and a bottle of cava with a hand written note and a personalised news paper. The bedroom like the rest of the hotel was also spotlessly clean. The large ensuite bathroom featured separate showers and toilet around a double sink combination.
There are a number of suites in the hotel and rooms on the second floor that have balconies – but they are not private – sharing terraces around the central courtyard.
The weather was in the 30’s so we took our breakfasts alfresco each morning. The outside dining area is beautifully and thoughtfully landscaped and the breakfast was delicious – featuring both hot and cold delicacies which were local, healthy and organic.
We had an absolutely wonderful and relaxing time in Palma and look forward to returning soon!
