We stayed at The Ned in October for a wedding – what a truly fabulous, charming and wonderful weekend we had.
From check in, to a personal tour of the hotel to the atmosphere – everything was perfect.
On arrival we were treated to fresh cakes and tea and a tour of the hotel to help get our bearings – as what you can’t tell from the website or any photos is the scale of the hotel – it really is like a very large stylised resort – with the jewel in the crown being the main entrance area with all of the restaurants, bars, hotel reception, rooms and basement leading off.
We were in room 406 in a Cosy room which is exactly that. A beautifully comfy large bed in a wonderfully styled room – which conjures up the feel of war time Britain – creatively mixing period furniture with autumnally coloured patterns – with a little decadence.
We had a lovely marble bathroom with more cowshed than you could ever use! and a lovely shower – no bath – I don’t think any of the Cosy rooms do.
We experienced the roof top heated pool overlooking St Paul’s to one side and the Gherkin to the other – I felt quite brave with rain clouds in the sky and a nip in the air – but the pool is lovely and heated and really must be tried – best bit as the weather was turning I got the whole pool to myself. I look forward to returning when the weather is hot to relax by the pool. For the less brave – i.e. my boyfriend! there is the basement indoor pool.
We went to Cecconi’s for dinner which was lovely as always – I opted for the burrata and pizza – which was cooked in front of us and the peach Bellini could be straight from Harry’s Bar.
We stayed in the foyer bar listening to the band for a while before heading down to the vaults for a nightcap. which was such a great experience – amazing to think if walls could talk!
For breakfast each morning we ate on the rooftop – post dip – which was lovely – fresh and seasonal.
We also had room service for lunch which is a selection of best sellers from some of the restaurants.
We will definitely return!
