Gainsborough Bath Spa

Hotel Reviews / Tuesday, March 31st, 2020

We stayed at the beautiful, multi award winning Gainsborough Bath Spa as part of a Spring road trip in Somerset and it was the perfect end to our stay.

A more perfect location for shopping, restaurants and bars you would not be able to find in Bath – it’s in the centre directly next to the famous Thermae Bath Spa.

The Lowdown

The aesthetic is considered and contemporary, the rooms are attractive and sympathetic – the windows are high and commanding. The bed is also high so if you have any mobility issues do check in with the booking staff. The bathroom is the only part of the entire hotel that we felt needed an upgrade.

The bar space reached down a handsome corridor off the main reception and although – bijoux is well stocked with an attentive and knowledgable bar manager and view out to the Spa.

The Spa area itself is the crown of the hotel – we didn’t read the small print to see that unless you book the spa package the access to the spa is restricted – which clashed with our dining reservation – but the hotel efficiently reached a solution for us.

We didn’t dine at the hotel as we had reservations in Bath – check out the Beckford Bottle Shop – will review this separately – and decided against breakfast – as we felt this was just a little over priced at £60 (I have a plant based diet) and I knew a wonderful indie café a short stroll away that serves wonderful vegan food – Good Day.

All of the staff were fabulous – the concierge was especially super helpful and we would definitely return but checking we had spa access at a more convenient time!
